Game Awards and Ratings

Unlike most other review sites, that either attempt to have calculation methods to try and mathematically work out some pointless number of which you, somehow, are meant to relate too, or sites that just guess some worthless percentage score, we at ByteSizedReviews use a very simple rating system to quickly show our readers at a glance what we think of the games we review.

The ratings a game can get are:

Classic
Excellent
Very Good
Good
Above Average
Average
Below Average
Poor
Very Poor

In addition to getting a rating, certain games also can qualify to get an award depending on their rating. These awards are as follows:

Platinum Award:

This is the highest rating ByteSizedReviews can offer. Games that reach this level usually add something new and exciting to the genre, plus (most importantly) are extremely fun to play! Games that are bestowed the Platinum Award have reached the 'Classic' mark in our ratings

Gold Award:

This is a worthy game, a great example of a game in its respective genre. This is something that's fun to play but somehow, for whatever reason, just misses getting that top mark! Games that get an ‘Excellent’ mark in our ratings qualify for the Gold Award.

Seal of Our Approval:

This is what we consider to be a highly acceptable game in its field. Although a good piece of gaming software, something critical isn’t right that restricts it from getting an excellent rating, let alone a classic. It is still a good game, and is recommended, hence the Seal of Approval given.

Poop Award:

When a game is utterly hopeless and doesn't deserve any respect from us we give the game a hardcore "Poop Award." For a dirty beast to get this distinction it needs to be rated as 'Poor' or 'Very Poor'. This honor is something game companies do not want to be given!

Note: There are no awards given to games with 'Above Average', 'Average', and 'Below Average' ratings.
