Introduction
The first RTS game I got was Dune 2 on the Megadrive, then when I got my PC ‘Command & Conquer’ came into my life. For years my interest in this genre has rapidly diminished with games that merely boast more units, and better visuals than the last. I thought the genre was going to have a major overhaul when ‘Total Annihilation’ was thrown onto our desktops, but alas companies went back to the old ‘C&C’ domain pretty quickly. ‘Age of Empires 2’ was the next game to grab my attention, but only because it boasted units from the past spread over 4 periods/epochs of human civilisation. I’m now sure you’ll understand why I was optimistic about Empire Earth when I heard it was made by the lead designer of Age of Empires AND spanned 12 different epochs including the past, present and future! Plus boasted 3D graphics! Could this be the game to redefine the RTS genre for the 21st Century?
Compatibility
It is hard to tell if the minimum is very functional and believable. I haven’t had any slow down (unless you turn the speed of the game up so high of course) so if you have a system fairly similar to mine (which isn’t that hard) you won’t have a problem and will be pleasantly surprised at how well it runs. Looks nice yet is functional on lower computers, good point scored there!
