Introduction
Some called it the “game of the year”, the game that sets the “New standard of PC Games”. I wish I could concur, but unlike those caught in the rush and excitement of it all, I tend to disagree. It comes down to what you like from a strategy game, what elements please and displease you, and so whether this game is suitable for you.
The game took five years to develop and is made by Peter Molyneux who made ‘Populous’ for all those who remember that far back. In fact I think B&W was one of the longest games in development. But some PC magazines use both those reasons to automatically give it more credit than perhaps is due. So what if it took 5 years, so what if it was made by Mr Molyneux, is it any good? Just because it took that long won’t necessarily make it a great game.
So if you haven’t decided yet to purchase the game and whether or not it is for you, read on and see what I have to say can tilt your hand to one direction or the other. As for some they will love it, others will not.
Compatibility
If you have a low spec system and think the minimum requirements are ok I urge you to reconsider. I have seen the game running on a lower system (mine was a little higher than the minimum specs though) and it doesn’t run very well. With a game with such nice visuals you really try and stop yourself from bumping up the ‘details’ and resolution, and it just isn’t possible! It hurts so much to turn them down! Then it runs really slowly and jerks about a lot. It is playable, but then it isn’t that enjoyable because of it.
Even on my computer now I have some details turned off! And sometimes it can get jerky! A very demanding game if ever there was one. But it is catered for the lower spec PC gamers amongst you, if you can bare having the graphics kept to minimum.
