Introduction
Star Wars products, like Star Trek and other highly celebrated Sci-Fi shows, are typically unpredictable in their quality. Occasionally products come out that are clear money making products, never intending to be anything but generate a quick buck for the franchise (not that George Lucas and co. need any more). Then you have the other breed of game. The ones when a lot of time and effort have obviously been put into them. Knights of the Old Republic I’m glad to say is one of the later.
Compatibility
One major problem with Knights of the Old Republic seems to be its overall compatibility with people’s systems. I admit I got the game a few months after release, and patched it as soon as I received it, and have had no problems. However, if I had got the game and didn’t patch it intially I may have had problems as there was a major issue with 9600 Radeons that was addressed in the latest fix.
So be warned, there are reported technical issues on others systems. Therefore I suggest visiting the Support Page of Lucas Arts and going through the listed problems AND the listed supported chipsets before buying. What’s good though is that there is an automatic upgrade option within the game menu, which I always think is handy.
