To be blunt I was no fan of the first The Sims. Something though has attracted me to buy and play its sequel The Sims 2. Clearly the graphics have been improved, but is that all that’s changed since the original?
Compatibility
I know all games recommend doing this but this is the only the second one (in recent memory) that I’ve actually had to update my drivers to play properly. The Sims 2 has many minor problems it seems, but the suggestions in the EA help pages are adequate enough to solve these. I had two small problems, both of which were solved by updating my graphics and sound card drivers respectively. So before sending EA a horrible email complaining about why the game isn’t quite working on your system I suggest heading over to these pages first.
Additionally it’s worth noting that Maxis are planning a patch in the very near future. So if your game isn’t working at peak efficiency now then hopefully Maxis are working on it.
