Introduction

RTS’s in my opinion haven’t really changed much over the years. I’m fed up with the conventional “Build a base, amass a huge army, storm the enemy base” style of approach. I yearn for something different, so look to games like Ground Control 2, Rome: Total War, and today’s choice game for review, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War to lead me back into the RTS genre. Does this game hold my attention for long? Or am I doomed to be unsatisfied by RTS games?

Compatibility

My graphics card is probably starting to show its age now. Although I am shocked that it’s managed to handle most of the newer releases rather well! This is no exception. Playing at 1024x768 32Bit colour is no real problem. During large battles some slowdown does occur on my system, although it’s certainly playable. It defiantly doesn’t chug along, or prove too much of a distraction to gameplay. Those close to my system will be able to play fine.

One thing I have noticed however is I seem to have a slight graphical glitch during game, with black streaks coming across the screen rarely. Again, not a huge nuisance, but I know its there. Just a matter of tampering with the settings some more I hope.
