Introduction

Ever since I played Shogun in 2000 I was hooked with the Total War series. Here was a strategy gaming series I wanted: huge realistic battles involving thousands of troops, no base building or resource collecting, and large scale empire building. Now, the third version of the series has finally been released. But does it hold up to the greatness of its predecessors?

Compatibility

Whoever wrote those specs must be living in cloud-cuckoo land. Yes, I imagine it does play at those specifications with every detail turned to lowest, but who in their right mind would want to play it on those settings? You buy the game, look at the box with all those lovely graphics all over the back and then you’d take one look at your lowly version on your monitor and cry!

I can play the game on 1024x768 with most settings turned to high. Some things like shadows I don’t care about and to increase game speed I have turned them off. There is some slow down on sieges when there are lots of fire arrows being released, but apart from that my system handles it well.
