Introduction
I would say alongside ‘Max Payne’ this game had to be one of the most eagerly awaited titles of last year. I never really got to enjoy the original Wolfenstein (mainly because I didn’t have a PC till two years after its release!) but when I started to see the new screenshots of this, and thanks to ‘Operation Flashpoint’ rekindling my love of War titles, this was a must! What’s more is it’s based in the WW2 era, which means grittier in your face warfare, rather than long range fire fights and tactical nuke strikes. But was the hype worth it? Am I one of the many reviewers who have praised this long overdue sequel? Or didn’t I like it and am willing to fight the hordes of loyal fans! Or land somewhere in the happy (but cowardly) middle?
Compatibility
Despite the very steep minimum requirements I don’t have any problems. I can safely say this is perhaps the most accurate requirements list I have seen! I have hardly any slow down, and can play at 1024 x 768 in 32bit colour and still cannot notice slow down through most of the game! True my settings are a slight bit higher than the minimum, but on other ‘lesser’ titles I can get slowdown even though I blast the companies recommended specs into orbit! Anyone who has a faster PC than me (and that isn’t too difficult for a hardcore gamer) will not have any problems. As for those of you in need of an upgrade I’m afraid I can’t honestly say, as the graphics are pretty impressive and equally demanding.
