As well as file management, and playing direct from your Jukebox, Notmad has a few more advanced tricks up its admittedly spacious sleeves. One of the nicer features of the Playcentre 3 was the one-touch file synchronisation, and thankfully this handy feature is carried over to Notmad. Playlists are now much easier to manage, and as Jukebox 3 users will know, creating a large playlist on your MP3 player using the units buttons and dials alone takes a significant investment in time. On Notmad, you can quickly add additional tracks to existing playlists using drag and drop. Changing the playlist order is also a breeze and again accomplished by simply dragging files around. With Notmad you can create, delete, rename, shuffle, and merge playlists, as well as import old favourites from Winamp etc providing the file names are unchanged.
One of the most interesting features of Notmad is "NotWeb". This aspect of the program is a fully fledged and imbedded web server which allows you to browse, search for and play tracks from a remote location, be it from another PC in the same building, or you Auntie Mabel’s house in Australia via the Internet. It's a very interesting and versatile feature that is also customisable, with options and skins being fully configurable!
The Main option windows allow endless tweaking of transfer options and Notmad settings, so you can tweak the whole caboodle to work just the way you want it to. This is certainly a refreshing change after the rigid and inflexible Play Centre (which has a tendency to get rather unstable after you move a lot of tracks through it - especially the versions prior to version 3!)
