Introduction
Soyo are now one of the big-guns in the motherboard industry, and have started to push out into other fields. Rather than follow the traditional route and start pumping out clonal Radeon 9700s and GeForce cards however, they have come up with something a bit more risqué, in the form of a clear computer case. There are already several high quality 100% acrylic kits on the market, including ones from Akasa and ClearPC, so lets see how Soyo’s effort measures up.
As you can see above, the case comes in a flat-pack kit form, but you need only screwdriver for assembly.
All of the individual panels have their own protective bubble wrap cover to prevent scratching and smudges. I have removed a few bubblewrap covers for photographic impact. :)
Also included is an accessory box, five case fans and shrouds. Interestingly, two sound-responsive cold cathode tubes with accompanying controller card are also included.
Inside the accessory box you will find all of the above kit, including a charming pair of Mickey Mouse style gloves. You should wear these when building the case so that you don’t put any oily smudges on the inside of the case which will be a pain to remove later. There are all manner of screws (including some for which I found no purpose) a system speaker, rubber feet, PC backing plates, brass standoffs for drives, and so on.
