A few days ago I brought you a review of Zalman's CNPS 7000-Cu heatsink (review here). While a nice quiet heatsink such as the 7000-Cu can substantially lower the noise level of your system, chances are your power supply is not helping matters any. Once again, Zalman comes to the rescue with their ZM400A-APF power supply. Normally we’re not big on power supply reviews here (this is our first actually), however the Zalman really does bring something different to the table. While most PSU makers are using 2, 3, or even 4 fans to keep their ever more powerful PSUs cool, Zalman’s model can dish out 400W with just one fan (and a very quiet one at that).
The package includes the PSU unit itself, three Velcro strips for controlling unwieldy wires, a power cord, a user manual (a rarity with PSUs), and lastly Zalman’s unique ZM-MC1 multi-connector.
The MC1, as you can see in the picture below from Zalman’s website, allows you to connect several different types of fans or fan controllers to a single molex connector, rather than requiring an adapter for each fan which creates lots of excess clutter. Nice touch!
