The base measures 60 x 60mm square and is 5mm thick. No imperfections could be felt by touch, but there are some definite marks left by the machining process. One thing I found to be a bit peculiar – the heatsink came without any protection on the base at all. No peel-off plastic, or thermal pads, or tape to be removed.
The heatsink uses the once-standard single lug clip, which in this case wasn’t really a problem, as the Gladiator 2 just isn’t all that heavy. It was also nice to see a screwdriver slot.
The Gladiator 2 goes back to the basics in the fan department. Screwed on top is the classic Delta 60 7000rpm fan, rated at 37.6 CFM and emitting 46.5 dB\A of noise. I’ve got another one of these, sitting on top of my beloved Thermalright SK-6 which I brought out of retirement to challenge the Gladiator 2. Onto the tests!
