The heat sink itself is pretty standard fare, made up of aluminum fins with copper insert on the base. It simply does the job, without any fancy “fin technology”.
The clip is the 3-lug type, if ask me it’s a bit overkill, as this cooler is mostly aluminum, and really doesn’t weigh very much at all. Still, better safe than sorry I guess. There is also 3 prong screw driver clip to keep you from slipping. Generally a good clip design, if not spectacular.
The base is nicely polished, and kept factory-fresh with a removable plastic cover. The white area on the copper is actually pre-applied thermal grease, and not a pad, which is what I thought it was (you can see the finger print of me trying to peel the pad off. Oops.)
The TR2-M2’s closest competitor is the Vantec Aeroflow, so I included one in the testing, as well as a few others I happen to have around. So how does the Thermaltake stack up?
