Overclocking

Overclocking

As usual with Soyo boards, all of the major tweaking and overclocking options are kept within "Soyo combo features" at the top. The first thing I suggest you do (as with Abit and Asus's) boards is to flash the BIOS up to the latest "overclocking" version from www.soyousa.com which will allow better performance, as well as much less conservative FSB limitations.

As with many of the 865 / 875 boards the Soyo is limited to 1.6V in the V-Core adjustment. Whether this will be of concern depends on the sort of chip you use. Most D1 stepping 800MHz FSB chips wont go significantly higher with very high voltages. The maximum stable FSB with our 2.4 we obtained was a very respectable FSB of 278MHz for a chip speed of just under 3.4GHz, without any additional cooling. With the right Pentium and the right 50mm fan on the Soyo's heatsink I'm confident you could go even higher.

The memory tweaking options are what we have come to expect from canterwood boards, with a wide selection of ratios and timings to best suit your memory. V-DIMM can be set to 2.9V if you feel like pushing the envelope there. Some quality memory such as OCZ or Corsair should have no problem with voltages up to the maximum these days, but I'd be weary of taking generic memory above 2.7V.
