Today weâve got a look at a new entry level power supply from Vantec. The ION takes most of the features of their top-shelf Stealth series, and puts them into a more affordable steel chassis. Does the ION measure up to its big brothers? Thanks to Atacom.com for supplying the unit.
The ION comes in a rather plain looking box compared to its flagship Stealth counterparts. The one standout feature here is the orange banner claiming âSATA readinessâ.
The supplied bundle is quite good, especially considering the IONâs price class. You get an actual manual (not a folded piece of paper), an AC power cord, several cable ties, and a small bag of case screws. Also included are two Molex to SATA power connectors. This doesnât mean that the ION is any more âSATA readyâ than any other power supply, but if you have purchased bare OEM SATA hard drives, these may save you a few bucks on adapter cables.
