The ION is of the dual fan style, which actually makes it a bit quieter than the triple fan Stealth. Both fans are (shockingly) Vantecs. It was nice to see a sleeve for the main 20-pin ATX cable, as that’s not often on <$60 power supplies.
The back of the PSU sports a second Vantec fan, and a switch to adjust the fans from automatic temperature sensing to low or medium speeds, as well as a passive PFC 115/230 volt switch. The interesting thing here is the outlet, that’s not something you often see on a power supply. The outlet could be a good place to plug in your water pump (or the 6 people that own Voodoo5 6000s) but high-drain devices may be a bad idea. (Don’t hook up your washing machine to this outlet).
Amps on each of the three main rails was quite good, especially the +5V rail, which features a hefty 40A. The +12V is a teensy bit lower than I necessarily would’ve preferred, but it’s more than a few others, including the $100 Zalman I reviewed awhile back.
