Tony Dobson aka 'Farside' is one of the top 5 CTF Quake III players in the world, and was recently the UK Quake III Team Captain. We feel he is better equipped than any of us to review mouse equipment, and he also recently reviewed the Radpad GS.
To begin with I feel it only fair to warn all the readers of this column (hi mom) that I am an Allsop raindrop mousemat person...always have been, always will be; heck in the future if they have electrodes that plug into our brains to control the cursor, I will still rest my arm on an allsop raindrop! Anyways, you get the idea.
My first impression with the steelpad was that it could not only stop a uranium tipped bullet in its tracks, like the Ratpadz, but afterwards could be used as a formidable cutting weapon and in fact I have already used it once or twice to dice some tomatoes. If I keep doing these reviews I will be able to construct my own bullet proof vest in no time at all, but this review isnt about military applications of computer hardware but how good a mousemat the steelpad is in terms of gaming. If you are sitting comfortably, I shall begin.
