Introduction

Asetek Waterchill Revision 2 Review

The first revision of the Asetek waterchill was a masterpiece of ingenuity and ease of use in what was a rather stagnant field of internal water-cooling kits. With their easy-to-use naval push in fittings, there were no nasty jubilee clips or other bizarre contraptions to use, apart from when attaching the radiator. With the revision 2 waterchill, Asetek have built upon the strengths of the first kit, and have improved on several key weaknesses.

With the new line, Asetek have released several different kits. The KT03-L20 is the basic CPU cooling kit, whilst the KT18-L20 does CPU and VGA. The flagship KT12-L20 that we have in labs today has blocks for your Northbridge chipset, your VGA card and of course the CPU cooler. Contained in this kit you get:

• The CPU water block
• The VGA water block
• The Chipset water block
• A 120 mm Sunon Fan
• Control unit and hermaphrodite power cord
• Black Ice Pro Radiator with push on fittings
• 700 l/hr Hydor L20 pump with push on fittings
• WaterChill Reservoir
• 3 meters of waterchill tubes
• Anti Algae Fluid - 25 ml bottle
• Heat Conduction Compound - 2 ml tube
• Installation Manual
• Screws, fittings springs etc.

As before, the waterchill only requires water to be added to get up and running. Before you all run towards the sink though, you will need to use distilled water. The easiest place to obtain this is in your local car supplies shop (e.g. Halfords) and buy some battery top-up fluid. Lets take a look at what’s new in this R2 kit!
