As usual, I started off at the ram’s rated 3-8-3-3 @ 2.6V. The ram was completely solid, so I moved on to 3-7-3-3, and the ram remained in control. I tried Cas 2.5, but with only 2.6V, I wasn’t able to POST. OCZ ram loves Vcore by the barrel load, so I increased Vcore on my Epox 4PDA2+ to 2.8V, and was able to boot into windows and run some tests at 2.5-7-3-3 without a problem. Having discovered the tightest available timings, it was then time for the overclocking test.

With timings of 2.5-7-3-3 and 2.8V, I was able to achieve a very respectable 456mhz. 2.8V on OCZ ram is child’s play though, so I increased again by another .2V to a solid 3.0V. After reducing Cas latency to 3, the ram forged ahead to 483mhz. After that, and I would strongly recommend that you do not try this with your ram, I gave Vcore another bump to 3.2V, yielding a final max of 491mhz. Simply stellar results, as I’ve come to expect from OCZ.

Once again, OCZ has delivered on all counts with the highest performing 2GB dual channel kit in the mainstream enthusiast segment. Every OCZ memory product I have tested has had a remarkable ability to take much tighter than rated timings, and vast amounts of overclocking headroom. OCZ must have more than a few hardcore overclockers in their engineering department, as their ram takes voltage like nobody else. Even at 2GB, this PC3200 kit is no different. Does size compromise performance? In this case, not one bit. Very highly recommended.
