The third and final Mutant mods product we are looking at is their UV reactive EL wire wrapped rounded IDE cable. The cable comes with an attractive semi translucent covering under which you can see all-blue IDE wires. This makes a nice change from the ugly multicoloured wires you often find in rounded cables. The novel thing about this cable, however, is its inclusion of EL wire integrated throughout the cable. As with the bubble tube, this runs from an inverter. On the inverter is a switch which allows you to select ‘OFF’ ‘MU’ or ‘FULL’. I’m not sure what MU stands for, but the EL wire in the cable flashes when this setting is selected.
As usual with these kinds of products, the EL cable looks best in darkness. However you can get an excellent ethereal effect from the cable if you couple it with a UV cathode, even during daylight.
Overall we have been very impressed with the products from Mutant mods . If flashing modified cases do it for you, I highly recommend checking these guys out!
