The IQ-eye has a very attractive 100% aluminium door on the front of the case, which hides your ugly mismatched beige drives when not in use. This reminds me of the Lian Li PC-6070 silent case in styling, which is no bad thing. In the middle of the door is a HAL-9000 style "eye" however, which we will look at in more detail later.
Moving to the top of the case, we can see an external feature panel once you pop open the door. This is a relatively new idea in case design, but has fast become a popular one. You can find similar top-mounted I/O panels on Cooler Master cases, Thermaltakes and others. Since the rest of the case is metal, I am not convinced about the styling of this large plastic bubble on top of the case. I think something a bit more understated would look better.
Moving to the back of the case, there is a single 80mm fan hole and the normal PSU-on-top configuration. Not too interesting, so let’s move round to the side. Here, once again you can see a plastic raised section. This functions as an air vent for the internal ventilation as well as a grip for removing the case. As before, I’d rather see an indent to grip the panel, or better still, just punched ventilation holes to maintain the sleek smooth appearance.
This fan guard is visible when you open the front door. You can lock the front door closed with the supplied key for security purposes, which is great if you don't want meddlesome kids playing games on your work PC.
