Crucial has always had a great reputation for making bullet proof, high quality memory, but if the truth be told they have not really been a realistic enthusiast’s choice since the PC133 days, at least until now. Crucial recently unveiled a new range of super low latency hot rod memory aimed squarely at the ever-growing overclocking community. Named Ballistix, the range initially comes with two lines of DDR (plus DDR-II versions), a PC3200 low latency part and PC4000, rated for high FSB overclocking.
Despite the high end nature of the product, Crucial still ship it in their normal generic box. If it aint broke, don’t fix it I guess! As usual, UK customers can order Crucial Ballistix memory directly from their website at www.crucial.com/uk/. Currently priced at £90.46 per 512MB module, the Ballistix is priced aggressively against other performance lines such as OCZ, Corsair and Mushkin. The PC4000 part is priced even more aggressively, at £95.16 including VAT. But does it compare well to other performance memory already on the market?
