Home Theatre PCs have really taken off of late, especially with the release of Windows Media Centre Edition 2005. If you have a decent screen however, especially one with a VGA or DVI input, there isn’t really any reason to not use “regular” windows and put that £100 back in your pocket. Nonetheless, the benefits of using a remote control cannot be debated. Fortunately, SoundGraph inc. has developed a remote control for PC that makes the media centre version look like a kid’s toy. Enter the Multi-Median!
Inside the attractive box, which is covered with rather disturbing pictures of eyes on tentaclesque leads, you get the remote control itself, the iMON USB receiver, relevant documentation and a Driver CD. Not the most comprehensive of bundles, but what else were you really expecting?
The iMON is available in the UK exclusively through QuietPC.com, who specialise in a number of home theatre solutions, including cases, remote controls, software and noise reduction goods. This particular version, the iMON Multi-Median Plus is the top of the range external solution, and costs £49 excluding VAT, though there are “internal” versions that fit to your case via a 3.5” drive bay.
