Abit have been making premium motherboards and graphics cards for a long long time now, but they are relatively new to the âPowered by ATiâ scene. In the past couple of years I think it is fair to say ATi have taken the overall performance crown from nVIDIA, and despite a strong resurgence from them with the 6800 series, an increasing number of former nVIDIA bed fellows have started pushing out ATi based video cards as well.
The card we are looking at today is Abitâs entry level PCI express solution, based on the ATi Radeon X300SE. Whilst the LGA775 chipset based systems might be focused to performance users at the moment, not everyone needs to spend ÂŁ400 on the latest X800 XT if they donât play many games. The Abit is focused at this market directly, but also showcases some exciting new Abit-only features.
