Bios and overclocking

Bios and overclocking

The board uses the standard Albatron Phoenix-Award bios, with overclocking and voltage control in the Frequency/Voltage Control menu. Starting with FSB, adjustments are available from 200 to 333mhz. I would like to see higher, but at least you can key in a value rather than having to use a +\- system.

The PCI bus can be locked at 33mhz, or set higher if desired.

CPU voltage tweaks are surprisingly robust, with more then plenty of Vcore for even an NW CPU, let alone a Prescott. Water or even more exotic cooling users should be satisfied here.

As this board uses standard DDR, default voltage is 2.5V, and can be adjusted to 2.9V, which is better than the measily 2.7-2.8V I am seeing on most boards lately.

Finally there are the standard issue memory timings adjustments for CAS, tRCD, tRP, and tRAS.

The Prescott and 915P chipset aren’t really known for awesome overclocks (at least not with air cooling, anyway.) The best I was able to achieve with my 3.2Ghz “540” P4 was 223mhz FSB, for a final tally of 3.568Ghz. Now, to the benchmarks.
