Cold Cathode
CoolCaseMods Cold Cathode Light Kit
Neon Lights are a bad option for making your case look cool. They are far too big, not especially bright and run very hot. What's the main enemy to PC stability? Yes, heat. Cold Cathode Tubes are an infinitely better option since they are smaller, brighter, and yup, you guessed it, cold. Well that's a lie actually, but they are certainly cooler than any alternative lighting sources. :)

The Cold cathode from Cool Case Mods came very well packaged. The light was protected inside a plastic sheath, encased in a bubble wrapped cardboard poster tube. This thing wont be breaking in transit!

The black box adjusts the voltage supplied by the PSU up to the correct level required for the Cold Cathode (~800V). Its very easy to install and if you still need help, there is a comprehensive installation guide at Cool Case Mods. You simply open the black box, plug in the cold cathode, then plug the black box into a standard PSU power connector.

As you can see, the light provided by this Cathode is very bright, much brighter than the equivalent neon tube. This is the green version, but Cool Case Mods also stock red, blue, yellow and Ultra Violet (review soon!). Combinations of different colours look awesome!

I decided to tape the tube to the side of my case. Its not pretty, but once its on the case, you wont see it. Trust me!

Here is the finished product. I'm sure you will agree that it looks cooler than an Alaskan winter.
Conclusion
I am very pleased with the Cool Case Mods Cold Cathode Light Kit. It makes a windowed case look seriously cool, whilst not heating up your case too much. At £25 for a single tube they are quite expensive, and you need to ask yourself whether you are prepared to spend that much on what is a purely aesthetic product. Nevertheless, case modding is all about coolness, and thus I have decided to award the product an OcPrices Elite Choice Award.
