The Blocks

The Blocks

One of the most important part of any kit is how goods its blocks are, and fortunately Asetek produce some of the finest examples available. The CPU block remains unchanged since we last looked at an Asetek kit, and is the Antarcica block. It supports Athlon 64 sockets, Socket 478 and many Socket A boards right out of the box. For those that need them, an LGA775 version is also available.

The Video Card block has been changed since we last saw the kit, and has elbow fittings suitable for SLI use, providing you use a motherboard such as the Asus A8N SLI series that offer more space between the PEG slots than normal

The Northbridge cooler remains unchanged since we last looked at the kit, but then the shape and design of Northbridge chips has remained constant as well.

All of the blocks feature high quality copper surfaces that have been machined to a very high standard. There would certainly be no need to lap any of these surfaces.
