The X1600XT is the latest entrant into ATi’s mid-ranged product line up, and boasts a number of enhancements in feature set over the previous generation. Shader model 3.0 has finally been added, and the parts are built on a new TSMC 90nm process, allowing for higher clock speeds and lower running temperatures. As usual, HIS has been quick out of the traps with a card featuring their exceptional IceQ cooling system, a fan that promises near silent operation at some 10 or more degrees cooler than the stock fan.
As usual, HIS has stuck with the tried and tested blue box. These still stand out on the shelves though, and if you are a long-term HIS fan, spotting their cards in a crowded store is now extremely simple. Inside the box are bundled the following items:
- HIS X1600XT Video card
- 2 x DVI-VGA Dongle
- 1 x S-Video cable
- 1 x HDTV adaptor
- 1 x composite video lead
- Full copy of Flat Out
- ATI bonus DVD
- iTurbo Overclocking software
- Drivers
As you can see this is an exemplary bundle, especially for a mid-ranged card where you do not necessarily receive the best kit with your card.
