In order to test performance of the Rampage III Gene we compared it against the P6X58D-E, the full fat Rampage III Extreme and the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R. Our processor of choice was a Core i7 920 whilst we used an Asus 5870 1GB video card.
The board has performance exactly in line with the results we’d expect from a competent X58 based product, matching the Gigabyte and its full ATX brethren for pace. Memory compatibility also proved to be excellent, with the board correctly setting the timings for our Crucial, Corsair and G.Skill parts and running them without instability. The board successfully passed our 24 hour torture test, running Prime 95's SmallFFT test and Orthos in Blend mode at 100%, all the while looping FarCry 2's benchmark at maximum detail.
