It has now been almost a year since ATi unveiled their highly anticipated Radeon line of video cards, which received critical acclaim from practically all who reviewed them. I was an early adopter of nVIDIA's Geforce 2 GTS 64MB, and whilst I found the card to be very impressive in many ways, it lacked for me in several key areas. 1) Stability was not up to scratch with the early drivers, and I found myself driver swapping between revisions all to often 2) 2D quality was not good enough for the high standards I demand for graphic design and CAD. As a stopgap solution, I bought a 3dfx Voodoo 5, a great card for its day, but rather lacking in perfomance by todays standards. When ATi announced the Radeon, it looked as though the ideal solution had arrived. It promised excellent 2D quality, with all the gaming performance of the Geforce 2 GTS.
