Audiophiles looking to invest in a 5.1 surround speakers system will have been shocked at just how much money a decent set-up costs, with top-of-the-range solutions from Bose and Klipsch costing upwards of $1000. Creative already offer a relatively cheap 5.1 setup in the form of their DeskTop Theatre 5.1 DTT3500 speakers, but at £220 they are still out of the reach for many users. With the new Inspire! range, creative are attempting to offer all the benefits of 5.1 surround at a bargain price of just $80 in the US, or £89 in the UK.
Inside the stylish (and huge) box you get:
- Hundreds of smaller boxes that contain:
- 5 satellite speakers
- A hefty subwoofer
- Cables to connect them to the sound card
- A volume control unit
- Installation instructions
Unpacking the speakers reveals six speakers. I'm sure you will agree they look heaps better then the old DTT design! This picture was shamelessly nabbed from our affiliates VR-Zone.com; I have my speakers set up just the way I like them and to unpack them now for a quick mug shot would take me an hour.
Here is the proof. I suppose I should have made at least a small attempt at tidying up for this pic, but what the hell. Here you can see the speakers in their "natural habitat" - a computer geek’s foul infested untidy pit of a room.
